Dr. Cooper and Blue Lotus Neuropsychology use a collaborative approach to neuropsychological and psychological testing. Testing can be useful in finding answers when you’re worried you might have ADHD, are neurodivergent or might be autistic, as well as when things are more difficult than they have been or when therapy hasn’t been as useful as you’d hoped. It is our goal to work with you and your support team to find the answers you’ve been searching for and identify your strengths to support areas of difficulty.

Having a thriving private practice can be so difficult, confusing, and stressful. I get it. I help mental health professionals and coaches to start, grow, and scale practices that match their values, don’t burn them out, and maximize creativity and impact on the world.
My expertise is helping you improve your interpersonal dynamics. You will join a small group of peers to learn how you typically “show up” in relationships and then practice improved ways to empathize with others, authentically communicate your feelings, engage in productive conflict, and grow in the ways that will help you develop deeper, healthier and more satisfying relationships with others (and with yourself). This work is not for the light-hearted, but is for those that are willing to honestly explore their strengths and barriers that impact their relational development.

How I transformed my pain into a blessing
Life is too short to suffer silently. Imagine breaking free from the chains of the anxiety, depression, stress, & emotional pain you are carrying with you! Everyone’s story matters. Let’s explore your story so you can have the growth and healing you deserve. I am a military-informed clinician and trained in military specific culture and treatments that focus on the needs of the military population and military-connected families. I have an eclectic approach to counseling with a strong reliance on cognitive behavioral therapy which focuses on how your beliefs and inner self-talk interact with your feelings and behaviors. In addition, I also employ other therapeutic approaches including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), emotionally focused therapy, schema therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and written exposure therapy for trauma.
Each of us is a work in progress. I believe that therapy is oriented towards two outcomes: alleviating suffering and promoting human growth. My goal is help you achieve these outcomes.
My approach to wellness is entirely centered around you and your specific issues. Sessions are client centered and solution-focused.
There is value in exploring yourself, your emotions, and how they manifest in your life. Everyone has road bumps to the journey of finding the best you. My goal is to support you along that journey.
My approach to therapy is simple: comfort & effectiveness. I believe every person has different hurdles to conquer in life and might need assistance along the way. With that being said, I work with my patients to form a safe and comfortable treatment environment to successfully accomplish their treatment goals.
As a therapist, provide a safe and nonjudgmental space to support healing and growth, and to help you move past fears and obstacles that may be getting in the way of your happiness. I help adults navigate life transitions and challenges related to identity, self-worth, relationships, and career. You can learn more about the therapy process and what it’s like to work with me at my web site. Together, we’ll work towards goals such as deepening self-awareness, overcoming unhelpful patterns, learning effective coping methods, cultivating self-acceptance, and building emotional resilience. I am particularly interested in working with diverse populations, including 1.5 and 2nd generation Asian Americans, BIPOC, and expats. As a native New Yorker and second generation Taiwanese-American, I’m especially attuned to issues of belonging and marginalization, and the complexities that arise from navigating intersectional identities and conflicting expectations, wants, and needs.
You know what it feels like to have this invisible load placed on you. I offer a safe and validating place to be unapologetically and authentically you— a place to come to truly process your emotions. You don’t have to do this alone. Start where you are and I will walk this path with you.

I enjoy working with people to provide tools and skills to better manage and overcome trauma, anxiety, irritability and anger, depression, insomnia, and relationship difficulties. I utilize CBT, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and trauma-focused approaches during sessions. I will work with you to develop an action plan to identify and manage your triggers and overcome your distress to allow you to live the life you want. I also want people to feel more in control, instead of anxiety, relationship distress, or irritability determining your response or actions. People have told me that they most appreciate my willingness to be direct, genuine, and use humor during sessions.
Have you noticed that you are stuck in repeating certain behaviors, feelings, or relationship patterns that don’t line up with the kind of life you want to lead? Sometimes people describe the symptoms of depression and anxiety, but are unsure how to address these concerns. I help people figure out how to break out of these cycles or find tools that help alleviate and better manage symptoms that have been labeled as a disorder by the medical community.
My expertise…I received my clinical training from Capella University and earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The most important takeaway from my formal education was the realization that building a trusting and genuine relationship with my clients and meeting them where they are is the best foundation for accelerating the healing process. I utilize integrative techniques and a powerful intervention called Internal Family Systems (IFS), which achieves mental wellness by teaching you how to understand the different parts of you and trust your inner self. I am also a certified in “Prepare and Enrich” facilitator which is a program that identifies the strengths and weaknesses of a couple (married or engaged), and together we will navigate how to create an amazingly healthy and deeply connected marriage. Passing on gifts and blessings…Throughout my life, I have learned many lessons and have been extremely blessed by being given much. And I believe in living by Dr. Maya Angelou’s words: “When you get, give and when you learn, teach.” It is now my turn to give back to my clients and to teach them about their authentic self and how to achieve their healing. I will teach you how to identify thoughts and behaviors and view them as “parts or roles” within yourself that are preventing you from achieving desired life outcomes. You will learn how to relate to each part of you in a new and healthy way! You will understand how to shift and develop into more positive parts to achieve desired life outcomes.
Using a trauma informed and mind-body-spirit approach, I assist clients who have developmental, relational, and sexual trauma connect more deeply with themselves and heal long term relational patterns that no longer serve them. I both honor the wisdom in the relational strategies we developed to keep ourselves safe as children, and hold that each of us is capable of healing and is ultimately oriented toward growth and greater states of Aliveness. When we become aware of and remove the barriers to what we most want for ourselves, we begin to unwind the trauma stored in the body and step in to more authentic ways of being.
My job as a therapist is to be your ally and witness, someone who learns about and helps you bring out the best in you, defining successful therapy by your criteria. I use conversations and questions about what you hope to accomplish so that your goals become more clear and attainable, by looking at your existing strengths and resources and judiciously suggesting ideas and resources that may I think will be suitable. We work together only for as long as it’s helpful to you, measuring your progress with you to be sure your goals are being met.
